CHTransit social

San Diego’s public transit system is not connecting people to jobs and schools, leaving many communities and families behind. Our local economy, health, and environment are at risk.

Residents in environmental justice (EJ) communities are the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System’s (MTS) number one customers, but transit doesn’t serve them the way it should. Seventy-percent of jobs are unreachable within 90 minutes by public transit.

In 2020, the MTS Board will announce the priority projects for a ballot measure that will raise $24 billion for the next 50 years. These projects must serve disadvantaged communities by reducing pollution and connecting our communities to jobs and schools.

That’s why EHC is proud to stand with the San Diego Transportation Equity Working Group to demand a 2020 MTS ballot measure that leads with environmental justice that:

✔️Connects EJ communities to jobs
✔️Elevates mass transit
✔️Makes it affordable to ride the bus and trolley
✔️Ensures San Diego meets regional climate goals
✔️Includes meaningful community engagement
